Diaphragm Cells and Related Equipment

Diaphragm Cells produce about 50% of the world's chlorine. De Nora and its predecessors have provided the technology for the majority of these plants and are the acknowledged worldwide experts in diaphragm cell technology. A customer licensee list is available.

ELTECH Gruppo De Nora ’s patented replacement parts include; DCPD (dicyclo pentadiene) molded cell (tops) heads for MDC™ and (Hooker) H-series diaphragm cells have become the preferred choice in the industry by giving an operating life many times that of FRP (fiber glass reinforced plastic).

Our ATC™ cathode design will reduce the operating cell voltage by an expected 1 mV per kA of current. There should be no reason to buy another standard design cathode since the ATCTM cathode design will save money in voltage and is be cheaper than the standard design.

SM-2™ polymer stabilized diaphragms have been used by the majority of diaphragm technology customers for many years. SM-2 diaphragms provide a dimensionally stable diaphragm, which will operate efficiently for almost twice the life of HAPP (halar modified) diaphragms. Expandable anodes must be used with dimensionally stable diaphragms to achieve optimum operation.

PMXTM fiber
Polyramix® non-asbestos separator can extend diaphragm life to more than three years. In fact, Polyramix diaphragms have operated efficiently for more than eleven years of continuous service. ELTECH Gruppo De Nora has developed reclamation technology to help insure that long life may be achieved. In this way, De Nora has developed a technology that will give economic benefit to the customer and eliminate the environmental, personnel or litigation risk from asbestos.

ELTECH Gruppo De Nora has developed an LVA™, Low Voltage Anode that saves at least 70 millivolts in a structure drop from the standard expandable anode. A further enhanced ESA™ (Energy Saving Anode) is available to provide more voltage savings in combination with PMX™ non-asbestos diaphragm separator.

As the industry expert in diaphragm technology, De Nora stands ready to assist your plant in improving your operation and lowering costs. De Nora’s Back to Basics diaphragm cell training program is available free as a service to our licensees to reinforce in-house training programs for operators, supervisors and engineers.
